What do you think would happen to you if you were injured on the job and then had to wait over 10, or more, years to receive financial help?
The Veteran Outreach Toolkit clearly shows how out of touch the Veterans Administration truly is with Veteran Suicide and how they can not figure out why Veterans never go to them for help.
I mean, the VA is on the right track, but they forget to get themselves in the program and see the damage they are doing by holding up a claim that last for years. It's one thing to have issues, but when the VA holds back funds for years - they opens up a whole lot of other issues. And the VA can not see that... how blind are they?
Bottom line, quick and simple... The Veteran seeks help with the Veterans Administration and it takes a Veteran 10 to 20 or more years to complete a claim.
Not to even mention the effect on a Veteran going through the claims process and being denied time and time again.
And then the Veterans Administration has the Director on the Suicide Prevention team. Why not put a few Veterans on that board who has been there, and going through it?
