These next pages, the US House and US Senate Committees, alone should be extremely telling and disturbing to all Veterans and future Veterans. Starting off with only 4 members of the Majority party and 3 members of the Minority party in the House and 2 members in the majority and 1 member in the minority in the Senate.
As Veterans, can you see the issues? How are they to see, or use their experience, when Men and Women with shinny stars and a lot of ribbons bullshit their way through first terms Representatives and Representative who have no idea about the issues Veterans deal with? But please do not be blindsighted with just this term, this has been this way since 1946 when the current Committees first started. Where Billions of dollars are pissed away and Veterans have to wait over 15 years to have a claim go through.
As a side note, a large part of Congress's issues with understanding Veterans is their lack of understanding Veterans. You can see that by who both Houses chose to be part of their Veteran Affairs Committees in each House. We do not feel that everyone in these committees should be Veterans, but a larger portions then what is showing at the present time would start to help. We also feel prior Doctors, nuses, social workers and Veterans who went through the claim system should have an impact. For the life of us, we could not figure out why a Senator like Tammy Duckworth is not on the Veterans Affairs Committee. Her benefit to all Veterans is that she is a Veteran, disabled, and most importantly, a Mom. And with her experience with the VA, we would think she would be an asset for all Veterans.
However, while she is a Veteran (and we have no idea of what her Veterans benefits are) she should understand why Veterans have to be put through a system where it takes 8, 10, 15 or more years to get a claim through the VA claims process. In her case you can see why she probably sailed through the system, with other Veterans it's delay, denie, and hope they die, who cares. And while Veterans are waiting, they get no income, work jobs where they shouldn't be working, loose homes, family, and yes, commit Suicide while the Veterans Administration wonders why Veterans do that.
And even today, you can see the Veterans Affairs committees, in both Houses, and the Veterans Administration doesn't give a shit about Veterans. Wonder how I can say that? Easy, These past few weeks Congress was giving away the farm and putting cash everywhere except in the hands of Veterans who have been waiting years for a little help. What do you think is going to happen to them without help? Our belief is the Veterans Administration is getting a huge windfall on the money they will be saving with helping the homeless and Veterans who need help.
Also, at the same time, look at all the essential workers out there today. Our Congressman and Senators wanted so badly to go to Washington DC and where are they now? Are they essential personnel? Yes they are, but they are hiding at home. And where should they be? They all live in Washington and they need to be there and access what is going on and dealing with it. If they had a little Miliary understanding, They should know that there are Hundreds of thousands of MRE's (meals ready to eat). Where are they? All those bottles of water that we saw gong bad in Porto Rico, Where's our bottles of water? Are they ready and in places where they need to be or do we wait in line for hours a bite to eat?
